Great Write Ups for Battersea Flower Station in 2018

Great Write Ups for Battersea Flower Station in 2018

We have had some wonderful write ups and articles written about us in 2018.

Here’s just a few!

Best Garden Centres in Central London, Airtasker

Battersea Flower Station is the ‘Best In London’ according to Time Out. Their pun name is also excellent. Completely independent with glowing reviews, Battersea Flower Station sells indoor and outdoor plants, herbs, pots, and accessories. They offer same day delivery 6 days a week throughout south west London. Great for: Advice and ideas. Read the full article here.

Best Places To Buy Your Green Plants in London, Idealflatmate.co.uk

Battersea Flower Station might not be the biggest garden in London, but it’s definitely a beautiful and magical space. There’s a strong selection of house plants, and of course flowers, so if you also fancy treating yourself to a fresh bouquet of blooms, then we’d recommend here for sure! Read the full article here.

London’s Best Garden Centres, Time Out

Puns always deserve praise, but its name isn’t the only reason we love Battersea Flower Station. The sprawling space is a homage to shoots and roots. Its narrow space alongside a railway line is like taking a wander in woodland, past greenhouses, huts, hanging lights and bunting. Let it lead you up the garden path. Read it here.

Best Places to Buy Your Christmas Tree in London, The Resident

The multi award-winning Battersea Flower Station promises quality and value. They offer next-day delivery on Christmas trees to most SW postcodes every day from 1-22 December. Choose form non-drop Nordmann Firs priced £34-£145, as well as fragrant traditional Spruces and potted trees. Read it here.

Behind the buyers, Glee

Battersea Flower Station is a hidden piece of countryside amongst a completely urban environment, and truly is the definition of an urban oasis. As well as being quirky, beautiful and a lot of fun, they’re small and curated offerings are perfectly suited for people and the gardens of London, making them experts at helping Londoners make their outdoor spaces look nice. Read (and watch an interview with us!) here.

Best Things to Do in Battersea, Londontopia

Taking its name from one of Battersea’s most famous landmarks (more on that later), this garden shop is quite a magical place.  Whether you need to buy flowers for someone or are looking for gardening supplies, Battersea Flower Station has everything you need, and it’s like wandering into a secret garden in the middle of the city. Read more here.

A Flower Garden For the Community, Cultour Magazine

Battersea Flower Station is unique because it shows other garden centers and businesses that you don’t necessarily have to operate worldwide to be successful. It is true that they get some products from over the borders and thus not everything about their company is local, but this is only in the interest of providing the best material to their clients. The combination of expertise in field and keeping the business as local as possible together with a very approachable relation to the clients caused Battersea Flower Station to quickly rise to the top of the London garden centers. Read the full article & case study here.

Things to see in Battersea, Spareroom.co.uk

For a real feast for the senses, follow the small gated entrance on Battersea Park Road through to the punnily named Battersea Flower Station a.k.a. one of – if not the – best garden centre and florist in London. A magical place made for musing through lush greenery and tropical plants, spend an hour or two here and you’ll almost forget you’re in the heart of London. More here.

A Blooming Good Business Pays The Living Wage, Wandsworth Labour

(this is just a snippet of the full article…Read more here.)

All the team at Battersea Flower Station are paid at least Living Wage.  This is really important to John in keeping the team valued and cherished.  Retail is a tough world right now, and there is so much online competition for plants and flowers. None of the big-name supermarkets or online florists are accredited as Living Wage employers.

Battersea Flower Station is a very special place in our community and we’d encourage people to support it.

Best Flower Delivery Companies in the UK, Flowerdelivery-reviews.com

Battersea Flower Station is an independent business with a small, passionate team. They are both a garden centre as well as a UK florist. All members of their team are local to Wandsworth. They encourage flower lovers in the UK to shop local, whether it’s with Battersea Flower Station or their lovely neighbours and friends along Battersea Park Road. They also sell pots, plants, shrubs, garden planters, house plants and indoor pots. If you order within their delivery areas, they can deliver within the day so long as you order before 2pm.

Plant Magic in Wandsworth, Lunchboxtravels.com

I would choose Battersea Flower Station over Columbia Market any day. Just a short 15 minute walk from Clapham Junction Station, Wandsworth hides it’s garden centre running the length of maybe the most magical alleyway in London. With a range of house plants, shrubs, cacti & pots make no mistake this is certainly not an East End market. Instead once you’ve entered through the gate you’re transported on a peaceful adventure which you are free to roam.

This is a lovely write up – here’s just a snippet. You can read the full article here.

A Guide to Battersea, Onthegrid.city

The outside doesn’t quite prepare you for this surprising magical oasis wedged between two cafés off a busy road. This doesn’t seem like a garden centre / florist, as much as a small public garden to escape to if Battersea Park is too far. An independent and quirky place run by friendly, knowledgeable staff (who clearly love the place). They stock a wide range of indoor and outdoor plants, along with accessories, vintage pots and gifts. They offer a free window box planting service for those of us in tiny London flats, and offer a delivery service of plants and flowers. See more Battersea Tips here.

Shopping in London, Lonely Planet

With its punning name you might think this charming garden centre, squeezed into a sliver of land alongside some railway tracks, would be happy to rest on its florals. But there’s more: it doubles as a florist, and even on busy weekends the friendly staff will treat you like you’re the only customer. See the rest of the guide here.

Huge Choice of House Plants

We have a huge selection of house plants for you to buy in store or online with delivery across SW London every day. Our houseplants are from our lovely greenhouse at our independent Garden Centre & Florist here in SW London. House Plants are really popular, and we have houseplants big and small!

Here’s the latest News From Battersea Flower Station (Dec 2017)

Hello, Happy Christmas to you – and Happy Birthday – to us! We were 5 years old on December 1st! And we’re only still here because of your continued support, so thank you so very much.

Our birthday celebration is always a quiet one, as it’s always in December (!), and by that time we’ve got 18 layers on, and it’s all a bit Christmas-tree-tastic!

To celebrate our five years, here’s five things you may not know:

1. WE ALWAYS STRIVE TO DO THE RIGHT THING …For example, at Battersea Flower Station we pay the Recommended London Living Wage as set by the Living Wage Foundation.

2. WE DO A LITTLE JIG EVERY TIME YOU HELP US SPREAD THE WORD.. We are independent, completely self funded, and don’t have a PR department (!)… And so we do a little jig every time one of you leaves a lovely review, on Google, on Facebook, on Yell, in an email, in a hand-written note on a card. It means so much to us.

3. WE ARE OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK, ALL YEAR ROUND… (slight exaggeration – we close between Christmas and re-open early January, but apart from that, we’re here rain or shine, 7 days a week). We all work outside, all day, all year. It can get a little chilly!

4. WE’RE A SMALL INDEPENDENT BUSINESS … And we aim to excel and exceed your expectations. If you like what we do, please spread the word. If you think we can improve do please talk to us.

5. WE LOVE LOCAL…. All of our team live locally. And we love our neighbours. We have lovely neighbours. There are some great places on Battersea Park Road… to name just a few…  The Door ShopPark Road KitchenFlour To the PeopleNew Vintage… Battersea Rocks!

Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a very Happy Christmas.

Top Tips On Caring For Your Christmas Tree

As featured by Yahoo News, here are our top tips in getting the best out of your Christmas Tree right up to Christmas:

How can we ensure our Christmas tree looks its best throughout the festive season?

“Christmas trees start to dry out as soon as they are cut,” John Schofield of Battersea Flower Station revealed. “The longer they stay outside in the cold the better they are. Cut trees that have never been inside can still look good way after Christmas!”

Top tips on looking after your Christmas tree:

  • Don’t take your tree inside too early. Keep it in the garden or on the balcony for a while if that’s an option.
  • Our homes are (hopefully) warm and dry and while it’s impractical to turn off the central heating in December, try not to place your tree right next to a radiator. We’ve seen trees dry our very quickly in rooms with underfloor heating.
  • Cut maybe half an inch off the base of your tree and let it stand in water. Try not to chip wood off the side of the trunk, as these outer layers take up the most water. If you’re not taking your tree inside straight away you can do this in a bucket in the garden. You can buy Christmas tree stands that can be filled with water and regularly topped up.
