A beautiful book, loved by anyone who’s lived in Battersea, with gorgeous ‘then and now’ photos of landmarks. Local historians Simon McNeill-Ritchie and Ron Elam trace Battersea’s unique journey over the past century. Featuring landmarks such as Battersea Power Station, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Battersea Park, this book is essential reading for anyone who knows and loves this famous South London district.
The Swiss Cheese Plant is enjoying somewhat of a revival, and is proving very popular with our customers here at your independent London Garden Centre in Battersea!
This icon of the 1970s (!) is a great indoor plant, with lush leaves (with holes – hence the name Swiss Cheese Plant).
Shown here in a wicker basket, or a concrete (style) planter.
We’ve got all sorts of pots / planters that you could choose from.
Latin Name: Monstera deliciosa
Native to: Tropical rainforests of southern Mexico, south to Panama.
Height: Approx 70cm
Likes: Normal room temperature.
Loves: Clean the leaves with a damp cloth.
Doesn’t like: Direct sunlight (the leaves may go yellow), or dark corners. And being outside!
Water: Better to water once a week a lot (better too if you can sit the plant in a sink with water in it for a couple of hours) and then let it dry out (a bit!), until next time, rather than doing a splash of water every day.
Got pets? Maybe choose a different plant…
We deliver every day to many SW London postcodes … same day delivery is difficult, so please don’t select that as an option!
Buy online, and we’ll deliver to Wandsworth, Battersea, Chelsea, Pimlico, Fulham, Balham, Tooting, Clapham, Putney, Brixton, Stockwell, Kennington. Further afield? Get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
Price includes one plant and one basket, or one plant and concrete style (terracotta, but it doesn’t look like it) pot.
Battersea Power Station mini-model
Each gift set includes stainless steel pieces which fold and lock together to create the miniature structure. Each kit also includes step-by-step assembly instructions and a short building history, which is all packed into an attractive envelope making them a great little (easy-to-post!) souvenir. Battersea Power Station is an immense building covering some 160m x 170m.
The Art Deco style building was constructed in 1935 and since it’s decommission in 1975 it has remained largely unused despite many redevelopment plans to include a theme park, shopping mall, eco dome and football stadium.
This is not a toy – the product contains sharp edges and is not suitable for children.
Contents: metal model, instructions, building history
Materials: stainless steel, paper
Dimensions: 10 x 8 x 6cm (when built) 21 x 15cm packaged
Come and learn how to make a hand-tied bouquet, have some tea (or coffee!) and cake with us at Battersea Flower Station – and take home your own bouquet.
We’ll teach you how to choose your flowers, which ones last the longest, how to condition them, the spiral technique, and how to wrap them… as well as how to keep them fresh & blooming for longer!
You get to go home with a bouquet of your own, and hopefully make some friends along the way.
Workshops are 90 minutes – and wear warm clothes as we have some slightly chilly (but charming…?) ramshackle buildings…
Choose from 4 dates (or contact us about a bespoke workshop):
Jan 11th / 12th / 25th / 26th. Cost is £65 including tea, cake & you take home a bouquet.
NOTE: We’re building a new website. In the meantime, when you get to the checkout, make sure you choose ‘collection’ so you don’t get charged a delivery charge (hence you’ll see why we’re building a new website!!)
